" I live in Las Vegas" most of the time from this sentence most of the people ask me: "So... are you a professional gambler?" and many more comments. Before to spend lots of time in Las Vegas I had the same prejudice, I mean a prejudice half true. First of all Las Vegas is not only the world famous Strip, in fact the metropolitan Las Vegas area is almost 500 km², the Strip is something less than 7 km. The population is over 2 million of people and the area registers the higher population increase of the country. So not all the people are strippers or gamblers, right? Of course the hotel and turism industries are the most developed, including gambling, entertaiment, hospitality and so on. Other important industries are shopping (as I told you HERE) and trade shows, these bring lots of Business Men in Vegas. Las Vegas can be divided in the following areas: the Strips, where the main casino and events are located; Downtown, the "historic" part of Las Vegas where are located the oldest hotels, casinos and many other attractions (I told you HERE); all around there are the residential areas like Summerlin, Henderson, North Las Vegas and Paradise, where the majority of the population lives No, we don't live in the hotels, unless you buy or rent an apartment at the City Center. Why is Las Vegas growing so fast? A big part of the "immigrants" come from California, the main reason is the better taxation and the better cost of living. The geographic location provides to the population of the Valley a lake, Lake Mead, mountain where to hike, like Mt. Charleston, and also where to ski, Lee Canyon. Are you still sure that Las Vegas is only sin and gambling?
"Abito a Las Vegas" ecco a questa frase gli occhi strabuzzanti e la prima domanda è: "Quindi sei una giocatrice d'azzardo" e molto altro. Prima di passare molto tempo qui a Las Vegas avevo lo stesso pregiudizio, cioè un pregiudizio in parte vero in parte no. In primis Las Vegas non si limita alla nota Strip infatti la metropoli di La Vegas si espande per quasi 500 km², la strip è poco meno di 7 km. La popolazione supera di 2 milioni di abitanti e l'area metropolitana registra la più alta crescita democratica negli Stati Uniti. Non tutti gli abitanti saranno giocatori di poker o stripper, giusto? Di sicuro i settori alberghiero e turistico è sicuramente il più sviluppato, comprendendo intrattenimento, gioco d'azzardo, ospitalità e altre attività. Altre importanti attività per Sin City sono lo shopping (come vi ho raccontato QUI) e i congressi e fiere, che richiamano a Las Vegas molti uomini d'affari. Las Vegas si divide nelle seguenti aree: La Strip dove sono presenti la maggior parte dei casinò e attrazioni; Downtown, la "vecchia" parte di Las Vegas dove sono presenti casinò più storici e altre attrazioni (ve ne avevo parlato QUI); tutto intorno ci sono le varie zone residenziali come Summerlin, Henderson, North Las Vegas e Paradise dove la maggior parte della popolazione vive. No non viviamo negli alberghi. a meno che si acquista un appartamento presso il City Center. Perchè sempre più persone si trasferiscono a Las Vegas? Una buona parte degli "immigranti" sono provenienti dalla California, la principale motivazione è la tassazione più leggera nello stato del Nevada. Inoltre la localizzazione particolare offre agli abitanti della Valley di avere a sola mezz'ora dal centro un lago, Lake Mead, montagne come Mt. Charleston e addirittura dove sciare, Lee Canyon. Siete ancora sicuri che Las Vegas sia solo per la perdizione e il gioco d'azzardo?
