"Different" Italian habits

I am in Italy from 3 weeks and I have noticed I am not used anymore to some types of behaviors and habits, not all of them are bad but just difficult to understand from a made in USA mentality, Here are some.

Eccone alcune.

Credit card - Carta di credito

Italy is the cash country and I really hate it. In USA I didn't use cash since December, including when I have to pay just 2 or 3 dollars for the coffee or the newspaper. Here in Italy YOU DO NOT EVEN DARE to ask for the credit card payment for less than 20 euros, while for the debit card (here it is used the Bancomat) you can use it if you spend more than 10/15 euros. Be ready for a pissed look from the cashier.

Customer service - Servizio clienti

I could write a book regarding the Italian customer service (nonexistent) compared to the American one: two completely different way to intend the customer. In Usa the customer really comes first, in Italy not always. Example: the waiter in the States is paid 2/3 dollars per hour plus the tips, that are usually 10/15% of the bill, for this reason the service is more attentive and careful (in my opinion).

Human contact - Contatto umano

Everyone knows Italians are very physical, TOO MUCH for the American standards, while regarding the strangers Italians don't give confidence. In USA is common to chit chat with someone in the queue at Starbucks or with your table neighbor at the restaurant.
